Sexy Durga / S Durga /

http://ddnews.gov.in/entertainment/kerala-hc-says-screen-s-durga-iffi-ministry-considers-challenging-order

Reservation : An observation

We may heard about the Prime Minister's Doctoral Research Fellowship announced this year. Professor Gautam R Desiraju from IISc, Bangalore is one among the persons who are unhappy about the rules it holds. He pointed out them in a Facebook post which initiated a discussion. (click to view)

In that discussion and NIT graduate named Fayez Ahmed pointed out that, reservation also a kind of discrimination and it should be thrown out of the system, which was welcomed by many people including the professor. I couldn't understand how when someone can stand against a discrimination by kicking out another kind.

So, I thought of writing my stand. In between a graduate from IIT Bhubaneswar named Alongbar Narzary and Gopinath Sahu, graduated from IIT Kanpur joined their hands and later, the professor.

I just want to record that here, since it is so important that, these are all written views of graduates and professors of higher institutions in this period and for me to look in the future to understand where I stood.

Over to the discussion.

Number 1.

Fayez Ahmed

Discrimination is not a new thing in Indian Education System. When students are divided based on caste, then there was no problem? Why there is reservation in every aspect of education, job? Still there is need of Reservation? If someone really wants to make indian education system nondiscriminating, first 'reservation' should be thrown away. Why does concept of discrimination come only for PMRF? Is this is raised by some people who dont have a background in IIT, NIT?

Vijayakumar

Dear Fayez Ahmed, I strongly agree with what professor wrote here. but I got suprised when professor liked your comment. So, here its a responsibilty of mine to write something as a benificiary. I don't know about you and other four people including professor got benifitted or not. Since, you are an NIT graduate and know some history even before british exists and caste system and writing a truth,

//Discrimination is not a new thing in Indian Education System.//

when we accept this, we should also accept, "Discrimination is not a new thing in Indian Society." Until there is a caste-based discrimination in society there will be voices for reservation. Let us find answers for some questions together.

1. Ignore the state governments, in this seventy years, is all central vacancies filled according to the reservation?

2. You may be lost job opportunities because of reservation.I also lost job opportunities because of it. But is reservation only determines to get the job?

3. ‎Is manual scavengers still exists? Are they visible to our eyes? Is it their wish to do that job even when they have 'so-called' reservation?

4. ‎Recently in Kerala, According to the law some people appointed as priests even though they are from different communities. Why is it impossible in other states?

5. Are all professors ready to take Dalit students for Ph.D. even though reservation exists? Democracy and equalism should grow from the classroom, isn't it?

If we are still worried about the reservation exists, let us ignore and compete in the general category and it is all completely on individuals wish.

I strongly support reservation as a beneficiary and I will use for my growth because its a fundamental right of mine and I will step forward to take suppressed up and I politely say I will give voice wherever needed.

Fayez Ahmed

Dear Vijayakumar, I just want to ask one question. Is there still need of Reservation? I will just share my personal experience. When I was getting admission through JEE- Mains, My AIR was 14342 & it was challenging for me to get Mechanical engineering in My NIT. On the other hand, an SC/ST was easily getting this while his/her AIR was above 60000(home state quota). Do you think he is really eligible for that? But it was impossible for a general student to get the same branch when his rank was above 18000(approx). Do u really think this general student was not meritorious than SC/ST guy?

During placement, in every PSU, for shortlisting, when general catergory cutoff was 8.5 , sc/st cutoff was 7.3 .Do u think these SC/ST guys are really worthy than General category. General category guys with less that 8.5 cgpa couldn't get even shortlisted while a guy with 7.3 was shortlisted! Really shocking. Why there is a separate cutoff for SC/S/ obc M Tech , Ph D admission in every Institution? Do u think these SC/ST guy benefitted through reservation are worthy than general guys? If u really want to compete, please get out of Reservation circle & stay in General line! U may lost ur job but I m not. Currently working in a state PSU. Still you think reservation should exist in india & u will get benefits from it & india will be advanced! Surprised! Why no other country in the world doesn't have such caste based reservation & why don't people of any country can't think of getting benefitted through such reservation? & U still think india will develop? India will not develope untill and unless Reservation is thrown away from the country. Reservation cant be a fundamental right , those who have guts, they can compete out of Reservation circle & those who doesn't have guts , they will get benefitted from Reservation & make india develop! For God's sake, make india reservation free for 10 yrs & see the development.

Alongbar Narzary

Haha #Fayez Ahmed

Success has no time to point something unwanted or as we say "Failure has many excuses"

Donot compare others to be like or learn to be...... Show that you did something great inspite all these......

Fayez Ahmed
Hahaaaaa Alongbar Narzary? Ur question implies that U have achieved something better than me. It is not worthy to get IIT Bhubaneswar with ST caste!

Vijayakumar

Dear Fayez, When its come to an entrance we should not only look at the same question paper and cut off marks. We should also look at the economic background of the candidate.

If my family is rich I can go for a coaching class paying money and compete in the exam. If my family is poor and starving for food I need to look for my part-time job and prepare for it. For both of the cases starting from the same line is difficult na? This poverty is mainly resulted because of our caste system. So, we are looking a solution through the same system.

Only the door is different. General categories are competing with general categories and the same way OBC's and SC/ST's.

You lost your seat because someone PERFORMED BETTER THAN YOU WHO BELONGS TO YOUR SAME CATEGORY. Not because of someone from another category.

There are poor families exist in general categories and there are rich families exists in Dalit families. But the extent will be very low I believe. we all will come to know only if the govt reveals the 2011 census taken based on the caste and economic status of each family.

I didn't lose a job because of reservation, in actual I got and I am very thankful for that.

Getting rid of inequality is the better development one country can achieve.

Fayez Ahmed

Dear Vijayakumar, reservation should be given based on economical condition. But the reservation which exists in our education + job system, is not focusing on that. Rather it is focussing on Caste. Are all SC/ST/ OBC guys are economically backward? If you really make an unbiased observation, u will see the reality. Grandfather was IES because of Caste, Father was IAS as he has reservation,Mother is IAS as she is also from same caste. Daughter is also IAS, she qualified in prelims just because of her caste! Do you think this family needs reservation? Becauae of her, atleast one of the general catergory student lost his opportunity to appear for main. Those who r getting benefit from Reservation, all are not poor. Yes, only 10%.

You have job because of Reservation. Will you tell ur kids not to get benefit from Reservation as your economic condition is good? U will not. Because u don't have guts to compete with general category!

Because of you people, India is not developing. I am challenging you one thing. Just make India reservation free for 10 yrs & u will see the development in every aspect.

Vijayakumar

Dear Fayez, Thank you for predicting my guts in a short time. I DONT BELIEVE IN PERSONAL ATTACKS rather you can think about the 5 questions. I am in a temporary post, will be sent out in 2 years don't worry.

I agree that reservation should be based on economical+caste based. For that, AS I ALREADY STATED that 2011 socio-economic census results should be revealed. They won't reveal because it will say how worse the condition even after 70 years.

And your father mother daughter IAS story sounds good. exceptions are not an example. There are still people out there, more than that, MAJORITY, we should look down. we also want a developed India with no manual scavengers, no more Rohit vemula's with lots of Ambedkar's. I end here.

Gautam Desiraju

Fayez Ahmed and Vijayakumar both of you seem to be idealistic and patriotic. Let's admit it's our politicians who have made a mess of the whole reservations issue for vote bank calculations so that today, there are no winners, only losers. Once we all realise this, a new generation of Indians will bring this country to its rightful position. Country is bigger than caste.

Gopinath Sahu

God...may my next birth in a rich dalit family...#riplogic

Vijayakumar

Your logic is good bro. Until your next birth reservation will be there. live long. ;-)

Gautam Desiraju

This is strange logic. Does the writer admit then that reservations will never work?

Gautam Desiraju

I mean Mr Vijayakumar

Gautam Desiraju

Wishing Mr Gopinath Sahu a long life then itself becomes a Freudian response. 😊

Vijayakumar

I strongly admit that reservation will never work until the present situation continues. Our hearts know that here execution is the problem.

And I also strongly admit that when there is a statement like "rich dalit family" exists there will be poor dalit families also exist. Until they exists I will stand for them, sir.

And the reply from my friend gopinath also gives a view that, he belives the existence of reservation in his next birth. Since I learnt some science and doing some, I dont believe in god who let dalits to suffer in a poor family until now and next birth. I thought that reply would be little sarcastic. I apologize to my friend gopinath that if it given a feeling like its a curse.

Kindly note that my five questions also hanging on top sir, how illogical and utter foolish and how irrelevent they are?! :-)

Gautam Desiraju

Execution is the problem. Primary education is a right. It is here that reservations are a must. A Dalit child must attend LKG in a school within 1 km of the home. Higher education is a privilege. It is not a right, especially in a poor country. Here, reservations should not be given, and they will not be necessary if reservations are implemented properly at primary education level. Above all, reservations should not be applied at the level of giving jobs because you may make the overall problem worse. A holistic approach is needed. Please do not meet sarcasm with sarcasm because it worsens the mood for everyone. Finally, reservations cannot go on for ever because the backlash will be fearful and none of us wants that.

Vijayakumar

//Higher education is a privilege. It is not a right, especially in a poor country.// Sir, I understand you are standing on the law.

Here I stand, "Higher education is a privilege. It is not a right, especially in a poor country, with a condition that, it also included in the reservation. I don't feel there is any better way exists better than educating, offering jobs to get rid of poverty through the reservation. we should begin to clear poverty from below.

Sarcasm is never been my first tool. I defended one who tried to dilute. As I stated first I strongly support whatever you are standing for. We both are opposing kind of discriminations which spoils the equality. Let morality stands at last.

Gautam Desiraju

Good!

I wanted to say more on both these posts during the discussion, but I beleive in self learning at this age.
